A Forward-Backward Iterative Procedure for Improving the Resolution of Resonant Microwave Sensors

This paper sets out a method for improving the resolution of resonant microwave sensors. Usually, frequency response these devices is associated with low quality factor, and consequently in terms tracking capacity resonance shift. Furthermore, since only finite number samples can be acquired during measurement process, “true” may not included set data. In order to have an accurate estimate frequency, high performance systems very fine sampling are thus required. To limit drawbacks, iterative algorithm presented which aims refine sensors by means suitable post-processing. The evaluation first carried on synthetic data, then applied experimental data referring practical scenario, inherent return loss measurements performed patch antenna immersed water-glucose solution different concentrations.
